Quick answers
Dental Implants
What is a dental implant?
A dental implant is an artificial tooth root, usually made of titanium, placed in the jawbone to support a crown, bridge or denture.
How long does the implant process take?
After the implant is placed it needs several months to fuse with the jawbone (osseointegration). The abutment and replacement tooth are fitted once that is complete.
Who is a good candidate for implants?
Candidates need healthy gums and enough jawbone. Your dentist evaluates your oral health and bone density at the first consultation.
Quick answers
Root Canal Treatment
What is a root canal treatment?
It removes damaged or infected pulp from inside a tooth, then cleans, shapes and seals the root canals to save the tooth.
Is a root canal painful?
The tooth is numbed first, so the procedure itself is usually comfortable. Mild soreness afterwards is common and settles in a few days.
Will I need a crown afterwards?
Often yes. A crown or other restoration protects the treated tooth and restores its function.
Quick answers
Crowns & Bridges
What is the difference between a crown and a bridge?
A crown covers and protects a single damaged tooth. A bridge replaces one or more missing teeth by anchoring a false tooth to neighbouring teeth or implants.
How long do crowns and bridges last?
With good oral hygiene and regular check-ups they can last many years.

Do veneers need tooth preparation?
Usually a small amount of enamel is removed so the veneer fits naturally. Your dentist explains this at the consultation.
